A remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will have big changes to game mechanics

The MP1st website has recently unveiled intriguing details about an unannounced remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. These insights stem from the portfolio of an unnamed developer at Virtuos Studio, offering a rare glimpse into the project's development rather than relying on typical insider sources. The remake, built on Unreal Engine 5, promises a comprehensive reimagining of the classic game.

According to the portfolio of a former Virtuos employee, the Oblivion remake will feature extensive overhauls to core gameplay mechanics. This includes significant updates to stamina management, stealth capabilities, attack blocking, archery, damage reactions, and the user interface. Notably, the revamped blocking mechanics draw inspiration from Soulslike games, aiming to address the original's lackluster system. Additionally, the damage calculation system has been reworked to include visible reactions to hits, while stamina is set to become more user-friendly. Both the UI and archery mechanics will be modernized to align with current gaming trends.

MP1st suggests that the project initially started as a remaster, as hinted by leaked Microsoft documents, but has since evolved into a full-fledged remake. The publication has also confirmed through its sources that the Oblivion remake will not be featured in the upcoming Developer_Direct. However, there are whispers that we might see a release as soon as this year, keeping fans eagerly anticipating further updates.
