NieR: Automata - Where To Get Filler Metal

Quick Links

In NieR: Automata, securing certain upgrade materials can be quite the challenge. While many of these materials drop from vanquished foes, some elusive items, like Filler Metal, are found exclusively in the game's overworld. The randomness of these spawns adds an element of chance to the farming process, making it a bit of a treasure hunt.

If you're looking to acquire Filler Metal early in the game, prepare for an extensive search through the overworld. For those further along in their journey, purchasing Filler Metal becomes an option, albeit at a hefty price. This method might be more appealing if you have the funds.

Where To Find Filler Metal In NieR: Automata

Filler Metal is a scarce resource, primarily found in the depths of the Factory. Its spawn locations are not fixed and change with each visit, making Filler Metal one of the rarest drops you'll encounter. After progressing through the main storyline, you can unlock the Factory: Hanger access point, which serves as an optimal starting location for your search, being conveniently situated within the Factory.

Depending on your progress in the story, you may need to revisit and unlock the Factory: Hanger access point.

While speed boosts can facilitate your search, farming Filler Metal remains unpredictable throughout the game. Your best strategy is to thoroughly explore the Factory, collecting any naturally spawned items you come across. However, the most efficient way to obtain Filler Metal in large quantities is through purchasing it.

Where To Buy Filler Metal In NieR: Automata

The only vendor selling Filler Metal is the Shopkeeper Machine located in the Amusement Park, and this option becomes available only after achieving one of the game's final endings. This means you'll need to complete all three playthroughs. Once you've beaten the game, you can revisit the Shopkeeper using Chapter Select to access its updated inventory, where Filler Metal is available for 11,250 G each.

Although the price may seem high, buying Filler Metal is far more reliable than repeatedly navigating the Factory. This method is particularly crucial for upgrading your Pod, which is essential for tackling the game's toughest enemies as you approach the maximum level.
