CDPR acknowledged weak gameplay in The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many fans felt the combat system fell short.

In a recent interview, The Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged weaknesses in the previous game's gameplay. He highlighted the need for significant upgrades to both the core gameplay and the monster hunting mechanics. His exact words were, "We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience."

Kalemba emphasized that the upcoming Witcher 4 trailer aims to showcase a more impactful and powerful monster-fighting experience, focusing on improved choreography and emotional intensity.

Witcher 4 promises a major combat overhaul, addressing long-standing criticisms. CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is aware of the shortcomings of previous Witcher titles' combat and plans to rectify these issues. These improvements will likely carry over into future installments, especially considering Ciri's role as the protagonist of the new trilogy.

Interestingly, the developers intend to feature Triss's wedding. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest was originally planned for Novigrad. The storyline involved Triss's romantic feelings for Castello and her desire for a quick marriage. Geralt's role would have involved assisting with preparations, such as clearing the canals of monsters, procuring alcohol, and selecting a wedding gift.
