Bloodmoon Island, nestled in the northern expanse of Reaper's Coast, is a mysterious locale shrouded in intrigue and Deathfog. The only bridge that once connected it to the mainland is now destroyed, making traditional access impossible. Venturing onto Bloodmoon Island not only deepens the main narrative but also unlocks a variety of side quests. However, reaching this enigmatic island can be challenging due to the lack of clear instructions within the game. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to navigate past the Deathfog and set foot on Bloodmoon Island in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

The journey to Bloodmoon Island begins at the remnants of a bridge located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the locations of Jahan and Witch Alice. This bridge, now in ruins, serves as the gateway to the island. Upon arriving, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint nearby. To uncover the path forward, cast Spirit Vision, which will reveal the broken sections of the bridge. Despite some segments being trapped, crossing this spectral bridge is feasible with the right tools and skills:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired early in the game, these gloves allow you to teleport without needing the skill itself. Use them to move each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.

  2. Translocation Skills: Skills such as Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat can be used to bypass the broken parts of the bridge. However, not all party members may possess these abilities, which leads to the next strategy.

  3. Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts enable warping between pyramids. To cross the bridge, place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to reach the other side. The rest of the party can then warp to the pyramid on the island.

  4. Fast Travel: Once a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there without needing to traverse the bridge themselves.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

For parties including Fane, an additional method becomes available. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the lethal effects of Deathfog. A pier northwest of Cloisterwood houses an undead ferryman who offers passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this journey is perilous for all but Fane, as the ferryman's promise is a ruse that results in the death of any living companions. By sending Fane alone on the ferry, he can safely reach the island, discover the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel to him.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If your party does not include Fane but you're keen on using the ferry, you'll need to utilize Teleporter Pyramids:

  1. Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
  2. Upon reaching Bloodmoon Island, the companion will die upon arrival.
  3. The rest of the party, still chained, can then use the second pyramid to warp to the dead companion.
  4. Use a resurrection spell or scroll to revive the fallen companion.

For parties without Fane, taking the bridge route is the most straightforward and quickest way to reach Bloodmoon Island.

It's crucial to avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell that instantly kills those within its range. If you're tempted to engage him, quick save your game first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
