inZOI Dev Removes Denuvo DRM After Apology

by Victoria Apr 13,2025

The developer of inZOI has issued an apology for the inclusion of Denuvo DRM in the game and has confirmed its removal. This decision comes after community feedback highlighted concerns about the controversial anti-tamper software, which has been known to impact game performance. In a recent Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim explained that while the initial intent was to protect the game from illegal distribution, the community's response led to a reevaluation of this approach. Kjun emphasized that the Early Access build, scheduled for release on March 28, 2025, will be free of any DRM technology. He apologized for not informing players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode demo and highlighted that removing DRM would allow for greater customization and freedom for players, fostering a more innovative and enjoyable experience.

inZOI aims to be a highly moddable game, a goal that was seemingly contradicted by the addition of Denuvo, which can hinder modding capabilities. Kjun reaffirmed the commitment to modding during an Online Showcase, stating that the first stage of official mod support will launch in May. This support will allow players to use tools like Maya and Blender to create custom content. Over time, the developers plan to expand mod support to enhance the game's customization options further. Krafton, the company behind inZOI, continues to prioritize player feedback, making adjustments to ensure a quality gaming experience.

inZOI is set to enter Early Access on PC on March 28, 2025, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though the full release date remains undisclosed. Stay tuned for more updates and detailed information on the game's modding capabilities in upcoming posts.
