Phantom Blade Zero Playtime Estimated to be 20-30 Hours with Adjustable Difficulty

Recent updates on Phantom Blade Zero detail its gameplay features and difficulty options, solidifying its unique identity beyond initial Soulslike comparisons. Expect a thrilling, combo-driven experience, not a grueling test of endurance.

Four Difficulty Levels, Not a Soulslike:

Phantom Blade Zero Playtime Estimated to be 20-30 Hours with Adjustable Difficulty

The game will offer four difficulty settings: Easy, Ordinary, Difficult, and Extremely Difficult. Game Director Soulframe clarified that while the game's aesthetic and combat initially drew Soulslike comparisons, the development team never intended to create another Soulslike title. The goal is fast-paced, rewarding combat. While inspired by Soulslike games in terms of level design (multi-layered maps, multiple paths, hidden areas), the core gameplay is distinct, described as "Ninja Gaiden Combat on a Souls Game Map."

Extensive Gameplay Features:

  • Extensive Weapon Arsenal: Over 30 primary and 20 secondary weapons, each with unique combat properties.
  • Substantial Playtime: A 20-30 hour main story campaign, complemented by an additional 20-30 hours of side content.
  • Multi-Phased Boss Fights: Bosses feature at least two phases, with the option to restart from the second phase upon death.
  • Li Wulin Mode: A mode allowing players to rematch defeated bosses, potentially unlocking hidden challenges.
  • Impactful Choices: A mechanic influencing the game's ending, though the specifics and number of endings remain undisclosed.

Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer:

The recently released "Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer" showcases Soul, the protagonist, battling the "Chief Disciple of The Seven Stars," and highlights weapons like the "Weapon No.13 Soft Snake Sword" and "Weapon No.27 White Serpent and Crimson Viper." A 2025 release is hinted at. Further announcements are promised by Soulframe.

Phantom Blade Zero is currently under development for PlayStation 5, with a PC release planned. The official release date is yet to be announced. Stay tuned for further updates!
