Nintendo will soon add another cherished Pokémon game to the Switch's Expansion Pack classic games library. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is joining the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on August 9, as announced by Nintendo today. This classic Pokémon spin-off will be accessible through the Expansion Pack plan, which offers access to a curated collection of Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Genesis games.
Initially released globally for the Game Boy Advance in 2006, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is a spin-off roguelike where players become a human transformed into a Pokémon. Players explore dungeons and undertake missions to solve the mystery of their transformation. The game launched alongside a Blue Rescue Team version for the Nintendo DS and was remastered for the Switch in 2020 as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.

Along with the announcement of PMD Red Rescue Team, Nintendo also announced a special offer for renewing Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions. As part of the new Mega Multiplayer Festival, which runs until September 8, purchasing a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online membership from the eShop or My Nintendo Store will grant an extra two months of membership for free. The coming month also offers extra rewards, including bonus Gold Points on game purchases made between August 5 and August 18.Additionally, there will be game trials of four full multiplayer Switch titles available from August 19 to August 25, though the specific games will be announced later. Following this, the Nintendo Mega Multiplayer game sale will run from August 26 to September 8, 2024.
