Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting a staggering $1.3 billion in first-day sales. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games: An Unexpected GTA 6?
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will rake in $1.3 billion on its first day. In a recent interview with Fall Damage on YouTube, Luke shared his excitement, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected and assuring fans, "Be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He points to GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day haul in 2013 as a benchmark, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass it. This prediction aligns with DFC Intelligence's projection of over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue during the first year, with a billion dollars stemming from pre-orders alone.
The Return of Familiar Faces? GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6
Luke also offered insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters. He notes that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin. Luke hints at Michael's possible appearance in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. This speculation is fueled by Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5), who previously suggested in a January 2025 ScreenRant interview that Trevor could meet his end early in GTA 6, acting as a "passing the torch" moment. Luke remains tight-lipped, stating, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." While both actors express enthusiasm for reprising their roles, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (reported by GamesRadar), York emphasized GTA 6's unique unpredictability as an open-world game, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't." He believes the game is currently undergoing in-house testing, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting a playable build exists and has likely been extensively tested.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but details remain scarce. While Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report hinted at a Fall 2025 release, no official release date has been confirmed.
