Star Wars KOTOR Remake: Cancellation Rumors Confirmed?

The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, remains shrouded in uncertainty. Recent claims suggest the project may have been indefinitely halted, dashing the hopes of many fans. This news comes from Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a veteran of the Syphon Filter series.

Smith’s X post alleges that development on the SW: KotOR Remake has ceased, contradicting Saber Interactive’s 2024 statement that work was ongoing. He claims some team members have been reassigned, while others have been laid off. Were this information confirmed, it would represent a significant setback for those eagerly awaiting the iconic RPG’s remake.

It’s important to note Smith’s track record. He accurately predicted a Housemarque game announcement, lending credibility to his claims. However, his predictions regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima release dates proved inaccurate, tempering expectations.

As of yet, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not officially addressed these allegations, leaving the future of the SW: KotOR Remake uncertain.
