Balatro, the indie roguelike developed by a single person, continues its phenomenal success story. Last year's surprise hit has now sold over 5 million copies, a milestone celebrated by developer LocalThunk and publisher Playstack.
Just a month ago, sales figures stood at 3.5 million. This staggering increase of 1.5 million copies in approximately 40 days is likely attributed to the boost provided by The Game Awards, as hinted by the developer.
Playstack CEO Harvey Elliott lauded this achievement as incredible, expressing immense pride in both LocalThunk and his team.
Even nearly a year post-release, Balatro's popularity remains strong. The game continues to receive updates, including exciting collaborations, and recently achieved a new peak concurrent player record on Steam. This demonstrates the enduring appeal of its unique card-based roguelike gameplay.
