Star Wars Outlaws Gets More Bad Sales News

Star Wars Outlaws Underperforms, Outsold by Jedi: Survivor

Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws, the franchise's first open-world title, is facing significant challenges. Released in August 2024, the game, despite initially positive reviews, has underwhelmed in sales, falling short of Ubisoft's expectations and leading to a sharp drop in the company's stock price. Adding to the disappointment, reports indicate that Star Wars Outlaws is being outsold by 2023's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Negative player reception to the game's combat and stealth mechanics contributed to its poor performance. While Ubisoft has released updates addressing these issues, they haven't significantly boosted sales. In Europe, Star Wars Outlaws recently placed 47th on the 2024 best-selling video game list.

The success of Jedi: Survivor, a critically acclaimed sequel to a popular title, provides a stark contrast. Its strong launch in April 2023 and subsequent updates for PS4 and Xbox One sustained its popularity and sales momentum.

Outlaws' struggles continue despite ongoing post-launch support from Massive Entertainment, including DLC expansions. "Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card," featuring Lando Calrissian, launched in November 2024. A second expansion, "Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate's Fortune," is planned for Spring 2025, bringing back the beloved Hondo Ohnaka. However, whether this additional content will be enough to revive the game's fortunes remains to be seen.
