Acquiring New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker
Exploring Overgrowths is the primary method for discovering new gear. While exploration naturally yields new items, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map directly leads to weapon discoveries.
Blades are melee weapons with unique movesets and abilities, while Rails are ranged weapons, each possessing distinct functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold being the highest and most powerful. As expected in loot-driven games, rarity directly correlates with superior stats.
To save weapons found in Overgrowths for later use, select the Cache option instead of Equip. These cached weapons can then be equipped before starting subsequent runs by adjusting your loadout.
Obtaining New Starting Weapons
Beyond finding weapons during gameplay, players can purchase new starting equipment from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop.
Merchants have limited inventory, but their stock replenishes periodically. If desired items aren't immediately available, check back later.
Weapon Upgrades
Weapon upgrades are available at the Outpost merchants, but require unlocking the upgrade function by increasing merchant affinity. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a scarce resource obtained through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations judiciously.
Death results in a reduction of equipped weapon durability (represented by a bar under the weapon icon). Repeated deaths will eventually break weapons.
