Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

by Noah Apr 09,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially responded to the ongoing challenges fans face in acquiring the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent announcement, the company confirmed plans for reprints and emphasized their commitment to ensuring that products reach fans more effectively.

The launch of the new set, Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Destined Rivals, was marred by product shortages, pre-order issues, and the interference of scalpers. High demand for other recent sets such as Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box has similarly made them hard to obtain.

In a statement on their website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that "some fans are experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability."

"We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity," the statement continued. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."

The company also pledged to "maximize production" for future TCG expansions to enhance product availability at launch and to "continue to reprint impacted products" to restock inventory, including at the Pokémon Center.

Addressing the issue of scalpers indirectly, The Pokémon Company stated their commitment to "providing a smooth purchasing experience" on the Pokémon Center website. They employ technology, including a virtual queue system during peak traffic periods, to ensure products reach fans first. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," they added, expressing gratitude for the community's "continued support and patience" as they strive to improve the availability of Pokémon TCG products.

With these assurances, fans hope to see tangible improvements that will ease the process of collecting and enjoying the Pokémon TCG when new sets are released.
