Palworld Boss Says Switch Port Improbable Due to Technical Reasons ------------------------------------------------------------------Devs Pocketpair Has Nothing Concrete to Announce Yet
In a recent interview with Game File, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe discussed the hurdles of bringing Palworld to the Nintendo Switch and hinted at future developments. Although a Switch version isn't completely off the table, Mizobe highlighted significant technical difficulties. He mentioned ongoing discussions about potential new platforms for Palworld, but stressed that Pocketpair currently has no concrete announcements to make.
Despite the game's high PC specifications posing a challenge for a Switch port, Mizobe remains hopeful about expanding Palworld's reach. Earlier this month, he noted, "Palworld’s specs on PC are higher than the Switch’s specs. So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons."
Mizobe has not specified whether Palworld might come to PlayStation, Nintendo, or mobile devices. In an earlier interview with Bloomberg, he confirmed that Pocketpair is exploring options to bring the game to more platforms. Additionally, Mizobe mentioned that the company is open to partnership or acquisition offers, though no buyout talks with Microsoft have taken place.
Wants Palworld to Have More 'Ark' or 'Rust' Elements
Beyond platform discussions, Mizobe shared his vision for enhancing Palworld's multiplayer features. The upcoming arena mode, described as "kind of an experiment," sets the stage for more multiplayer experiences. "My dream is to achieve a true PvP mode in Palworld," Mizobe stated. "I want more of the Ark or Rust style."
Ark and Rust are renowned survival games known for their challenging environments, intricate resource management, and extensive player interactions, including forming alliances and tribes. Both games blend PvE and PvP elements. In ARK, players face dangerous wildlife, including dinosaurs, and environmental challenges like extreme weather. Rust offers similar environmental hazards, including wildlife and radiation zones.
Palworld, developed by Pocketpair, has captured the gaming community's imagination with its unique blend of creature collection and survival shooting. Players can capture creatures called Pals, utilize them for building bases, and engage in various survival activities.
The game enjoyed a stellar launch, selling 15 million copies on PC within its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox through the Game Pass subscription service. Palworld is gearing up for a significant update with the free Sakurajima update, set to launch on Thursday. This update will introduce a new island, the long-awaited PvP arena, and more exciting features.
