Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Star Hasn't Recorded His Lines Yet

by Oliver Mar 04,2025

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't recorded any lines yet, and that many aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news isn't entirely surprising, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in Across the Spider-Verse was relatively small, he's poised for a significantly larger part in the third film. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He's set to portray the main antagonist, Miles G. Morales from Earth-42. This version of Miles, bitten by the radioactive spider in a different reality, becomes the Prowler after his universe's Peter Parker perishes, leaving New York under the control of supervillains.

The narrative conflict between this villainous Miles and the main protagonist Miles Morales will likely be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans should brace themselves for a considerable wait. Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, but mirroring the previous film's release schedule could push it back to 2028.
