Marvel Reportedly Pauses Work on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. TV Shows

by Ryan Feb 28,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly placed three shows, Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc., on hold. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects lacked official greenlighting and their future remains uncertain, though a shift in Marvel's strategic priorities is cited as the reason.

This strategic adjustment coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, recently revealed an exploration of reuniting the street-level heroes of The Defenders (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist).

Marvel Studios' current approach prioritizes developing a larger volume of shows than previously produced. However, as Winderbaum stated to Screen Rant last year, "We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next."

The Nova project's pause is particularly surprising, especially considering Ed Bernero's recent attachment as writer and showrunner just two months prior, with the series confirmed for Disney+. For more details on Nova, see IGN's comprehensive article.

Strange Academy, anticipated to center around Doctor Strange's magic school with Wong as headmaster, is also affected. Information regarding Terror, Inc. remains limited.

Confirmed Marvel TV release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+, March 4th), Ironheart (June 24th), and Wonder Man (December). Following Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for release this year: Thunderbolts (May) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
