Iansan: Genshin Impact's New Bennett Replacement?

by Benjamin Apr 27,2025

Bennett has long been recognized as one of the most valuable characters in *Genshin Impact*, maintaining his relevance and utility in various team compositions since the game's inception. However, with the introduction of Iansan in *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5, which launches on March 26, players are buzzing about whether she could be the new "Bennett replacement." Let's dive into a detailed comparison to see if Iansan truly lives up to this title.

How Does Iansan’s Kit Compare to Bennett’s in Genshin Impact?

Iansan, a new 4-Star Electro Polearm character from Natlan, steps into the game with a support role that closely mirrors Bennett's. Her primary tool for boosting team performance is her Elemental Burst, "The Three Principles of Power," which enhances damage and provides healing. Unlike Bennett, who requires characters to remain within his field for buffs, Iansan's approach is more dynamic. She summons a Kinetic Energy Scale that follows the active character, boosting ATK based on her Nightsoul Points.

The effectiveness of Iansan's ATK bonus hinges on her Nightsoul Points. If she has fewer than 42 out of a possible 54 points, the bonus scales with both her Nightsoul Points and ATK. At 42 points or more, the bonus shifts to scale solely with her ATK, emphasizing the importance of building her with high ATK stats. Additionally, the Kinetic Scale rewards movement, restoring Nightsoul Points based on the distance traveled by the active character.

While both characters offer healing, Bennett outshines Iansan in this aspect, capable of restoring up to 70% of the active character's HP. Iansan, on the other hand, cannot heal herself, giving Bennett a clear advantage in the healing department. Furthermore, Bennett at C6 can infuse Pyro into the active character's Normal Attacks, a feature Iansan lacks, which could be crucial depending on your team's elemental needs.

For exploration, Iansan brings unique benefits. She can use Nightsoul Points to sprint without consuming stamina and jump longer distances, adding a fresh twist to gameplay. Yet, for Pyro-centric teams, Bennett remains the superior choice due to Elemental Resonance, which provides a significant +25% ATK boost and Pyro infusion.

Should You Choose Iansan or Bennett in Genshin Impact?

Iansan can be seen as Bennett's counterpart, sharing a similar aesthetic and functional kit. However, rather than replacing Bennett, she offers a strong alternative, particularly for secondary team compositions in challenges like Spiral Abyss. Her Kinetic Scale encourages a more mobile playstyle, freeing players from the need to stay within Bennett's stationary field.

If you're interested in trying out Iansan, you'll have the opportunity during Phase I of *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5, starting March 26.
