Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game development studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its upcoming first-person shooter (FPS) game, Deadrop.
The studio made the announcement via X, stating, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." The post also included a plea for employment opportunities for its team members.
Midnight Society was established by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn Delhoy (Halo). Deadrop, their flagship title, was envisioned as a free-to-play FPS leveraging the team's extensive experience. While initially targeting a 2024 release, the game ultimately failed to meet its launch date.

Following a 2024 separation from Beahm after allegations of inappropriate messaging with a minor via Twitch Whispers, Midnight Society continued Deadrop's development until its recent termination.
The game was set in a unique, retro-futuristic universe described as "the 80s never ended," featuring characters in Daft Punk-inspired helmets wielding both firearms and melee weapons. Gameplay was planned as a PvPvE extraction shooter.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of studios facing challenges within the current difficult climate of the games industry, joining companies like Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs who have also experienced layoffs or closures.
