The DOOM franchise's cross-platform compatibility continues to amaze. A recent feat showcases the game's resilience: NyanSatan successfully ran the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter.
This remarkable achievement leverages the adapter's built-in iOS-based firmware and processor (clocked at up to 168 MHz). NyanSatan accessed the firmware, then executed the game, utilizing a MacBook for data transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal storage.
Meanwhile, news on an upcoming DOOM iteration surfaces. DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer players unprecedented control over the game's difficulty. Developers aim for maximum accessibility, allowing adjustments to demon aggression in the game settings. This title promises significantly more customization options than previous id Software releases.
Executive producer Marty Stratton highlights the studio's commitment to accessibility. Players will be able to fine-tune enemy damage, difficulty levels, projectile speed, enemy health, and other parameters such as game pace, aggression, and parry timing.
Stratton also confirms that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't required to understand its narrative or that of DOOM: Eternal.
