Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game.
Specifics remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate title. However, a source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond game, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City. Their goal? An ambitious trilogy. The game's release is anticipated on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was lauded for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive project yet. The Batman Beyond setting also addresses a significant challenge: Batman's voice acting. Following the passing of the iconic Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne – a similar approach considered by Warner Bros. Montreal for their canceled Batman: Arkham Knight sequel.
Rocksteady's previous endeavor faced difficulties – their online shooter didn't resonate with players, resulting in a commercial failure. Post-launch plans were abandoned within a year, concluding the narrative with a hastily produced animated segment that retconned controversial plot elements, revealing certain fallen heroes to be clones.
Rocksteady is now returning to its strengths, developing a new solo Batman adventure. However, sources caution that the game is still several years from release.
