Mastering the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward

In Phasmophobia, tackling the most elusive specters often necessitates employing risky yet rewarding Cursed Possessions. The Haunted Mirror stands out as a particularly useful, albeit potentially hazardous, tool. This guide explains its functionality and use.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror offers a significant advantage, often outweighing its inherent risks. Its function remains consistent across game updates: it provides a panoramic view of the ghost's current favored room. This significantly accelerates ghost location, allowing for strategic equipment placement before the investigation escalates.

Typically found hanging on a wall (as seen in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or on the floor in its predetermined location, the Haunted Mirror, like all Cursed Objects, spawns consistently in the same spot on each map; the type of Cursed Object is randomized.

To activate the mirror, simply pick it up and use the designated interaction button (mouse or controller). The reflection reveals the ghost's preferred area. However, remember that on Professional difficulty and above, the ghost might relocate after a period.

Caution is advised! Prolonged observation depletes sanity. Holding the mirror for its full duration results in its shattering and triggers a Cursed Hunt at your location. Use it wisely when sanity levels are high, and carefully interpret the reflection.

Cursed Possessions, often called "Cursed Objects," are unique items randomly appearing on maps (depending on difficulty and Challenge Mode). Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while providing evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts but pose substantial danger.

Risk varies between objects, leaving the decision of use to the player(s). There's no penalty for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
