Description

Investigating vehicle collisions just got easier with the EDR "Blackbox" Scan Tool and PDF Accident Reports from Collision Sciences. Our CrashScan app, used with an OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth adapter, scans vehicle computer modules, including the Event Data Recorder (EDR), or "black box" where supported (see support details below). CrashScan helps investigators identify, capture, and interpret stored accident data, providing valuable insights for validating insurance claims and assessing liability in questionable collisions.

Vehicle Support (EDR & Full System Diagnostic Scan)

CrashScan supports over 3000 unique vehicle year/make/models internationally. Check compatibility here: https://collisionsciences.ca/reports/check_support/

Contextual Accident Reports

A successful CrashScan provides detailed information on impact severity, orientation (front, rear, side), and crucial context, including:

  • Accident severity (minor, moderate, severe)
  • EDR trigger thresholds
  • 5 seconds of pre-crash data: speed, brake/accelerator pedal use, steering
  • Occupant count and seatbelt status
  • Estimated repair cost
  • Likelihood of structural crush damage
  • Injury risk thresholds (whiplash, injury duration)
  • Typical g-forces in daily activities (for comparison)

*Injury risk algorithms utilize stored acceleration values, scientific articles, and databases like the National Automotive Sampling System (NASS).
