Button Mapper revolutionizes the way you interact with your device by allowing you to remap hardware buttons to launch any app, shortcut, or custom action with ease. Whether it's a single press, double tap, or long press, Button Mapper empowers you to customize your volume buttons and other hardware keys to suit your needs. This powerful tool supports remapping for most physical or capacitive keys, including volume buttons, assist buttons, and capacitive home, back, and recent apps keys, as well as buttons on gamepads, remotes, and other peripheral devices.
While root access is not required for most functions, certain advanced features may necessitate an adb command from a connected PC if your device isn't rooted. It's worth noting that Button Mapper won't function when the screen is off unless your device is rooted or you use an adb command.

For troubleshooting, ensure that the Button Mapper accessibility service is enabled and allowed to run in the background. Note that Button Mapper does not work with on-screen buttons (such as soft keys or the navigation bar) or the power button. The options available in the app depend on the buttons present on your device, so not all phones will have home, back, and recents buttons.
Button Mapper uses Accessibility services to detect when physical or capacitive buttons are pressed on your device, enabling them to be remapped to custom actions tailored to your needs. Rest assured, it does not monitor your typing or collect any personal information; your privacy is respected and safeguarded.
The app also requires the Device Administrator permission (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN) to lock the screen if the "Turn screen off" action is selected. To remove this permission, simply open Button Mapper, click on the menu (three dots in the upper right corner), and select "Uninstall."
