Xbox Games Series Tier List

by Brooklyn Feb 20,2025

Microsoft's Xbox Developer Direct has generated significant buzz, fueling excitement for the future of Xbox and its impressive roster of first-party studios. But which Xbox game franchises resonate most strongly with gamers? Which delivered unparalleled enjoyment during the Xbox 360 era? Or, for those unfamiliar with Xbox, which upcoming titles are most anticipated on platforms like PlayStation, given Microsoft's apparent commitment to broader game availability?

The sheer volume of legendary franchises is staggering, especially considering Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard. This tier list encompasses any series associated with Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided it boasts multiple entries – apologies to MachineGames and Indiana Jones! A sequel would certainly warrant inclusion. This isn't an exhaustive list of every Xbox game series, but aims to represent current relevance and historical impact.

Below is a personal tier list, reflecting personal enjoyment over the years:

Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List

Doom easily claims an S-tier position, with recent installments ranking among my favorite first-person shooters. Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software is maintaining its high standards. Forza Horizon also earns an S-tier spot; arguably, outside of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, they're the best racing games I've ever played. The A-tier placement of Halo might raise eyebrows. While Halo 2 and 3 are exceptional campaign shooters, recent inconsistencies prevent a higher ranking. Personally, I'm a bigger Fallout fan than Elder Scrolls; power armor trumps dragons, in my opinion.
