Sony's recent State of Play showcased Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. The $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster is only available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 version (disc or digital), excluding those who acquired the game through PS Plus.
This means PS Plus users, including those who accessed Days Gone via the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly games, must pay the full $49.99 price for the PS5 remaster. This has led to widespread online complaints from subscribers who felt a $10 upgrade would have been worthwhile, but now plan to skip the game entirely.
Many PS Plus subscribers voiced their frustration on the PlayStation Plus subreddit, highlighting the potential lost revenue for Sony. Several users expressed that they would have paid the $10 upgrade fee, even just to try the game briefly. One user pointed out that Sony essentially gave away the game for free via PS Plus, potentially foregoing an additional $10 per player who now won't upgrade. Another criticized the remaster itself as unnecessary.
Days Gone Remastered wasn't the only game announced at the State of Play. For a complete overview of the February 2025 announcements, refer to IGN's State of Play roundup.
