Unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2024's Xbox showcase, Threads of Time is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and Steam. While a release date remains unannounced, PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions are also yet to be confirmed.
Already generating buzz, Threads of Time is poised to compete with Sea of Stars as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's Chrono series. This retro-style RPG from Riyo Games promises a captivating story and charming characters.
"Riyo Games aims to create retro-inspired RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories," the studio stated in a press release. "Our journey began with a childhood promise – two friends playing RPGs, dreaming of one day crafting their own epic adventures."
Featuring stunning 2.5D pixel art, Threads of Time follows a diverse cast of characters across various eras, from dinosaurs to robots. The story unfolds across centuries, culminating in a quest to thwart a threat to the very fabric of time. Complementing the pixel art are high-quality anime cutscenes that enrich the narrative.
The party includes intriguing members like Rye (a swordsman from 1000 AD), Bo (a veterinarian from 12,000,000 BC), Rin (a kitsune from 2400 AD), and more.
