Sword Art Online Variant Showdown Returns After Extended Maintenance!
Remember SAOVS, Bandai Namco's action RPG? After an unexpectedly long maintenance period that began in September 2023, SAOVS (Sword Art Online Variant Showdown) is finally back online! The game's relaunch follows a much longer downtime than initially anticipated (the August 2023 announcement promised a return this summer). The developers attributed the delay to resolving core gameplay issues.
What's New in the Re-released SAOVS?
The relaunch features a brand-new Battle Royal Season 1. Four players compete in the arena, with the player achieving the most knockouts declared the victor. Participate in League Matches to earn titles and accessories. Season 1 runs until December 30th.
Returning players who persevered through the extended maintenance are rewarded with 5 Sword Spark Mito Pickup Scout Tickets as part of a special Returning Player Campaign.
A celebratory Restart Celebration event offers up to 100 free Scouts, alongside login bonuses and missions with impressive rewards. This event runs until January 30th, 2025.
Players also have the opportunity to obtain the SSR Sword Spark Mito (a Light-elemental fighter), and new SSR Ability Cards, 'Destroyer of Destiny' and 'Seasoned Comrades,' available until January 6th, 2025.
