by Savannah Jan 26,2025

Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but! We'll cover the news, review the new eShop additions, and list the day's sales – both new and expiring. Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase: A Bounty of Games

Nintendo's strategy of combining two smaller showcases proved effective, delivering a flurry of announcements. Highlights include surprise game releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a complete overview.

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A surprise hit from the Direct, this third Castlevania compilation features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously bad arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. This collection offers exceptional emulation and features, representing incredible value for the price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer, also a surprise release, brings frenetic action to the Switch. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this title, but its fast-paced platforming should appeal to a broader audience as well. A review is pending.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

Another surprise release, Goat Simulator 3 continues the series' tradition of chaotic, open-world goat antics. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (given challenges on more powerful systems), its inherently absurd nature might even complement any potential performance issues. Ultimately, it's a game of silly goat shenanigans – buyer beware!

Peglin ($19.99)

A game that blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. Available on mobile for some time, Peglin now graces the Switch with its addictive gameplay. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft's latest simulation game incorporates the popular Doraemon license into its familiar formula. The game features characters from the Doraemon manga and anime, and even includes cameos from the manga artist's other works.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

A sequel for Pico Park fans, supporting up to eight players via local or online multiplayer. The core puzzle gameplay remains, requiring teamwork and strategic thinking.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

A budget-friendly rhythm game featuring music from Kamitsubaki Studio.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin twist.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

A quirky physics-based puzzle game with over 300 levels, supporting up to four players via local or online multiplayer.
