In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on a side quest titled "For Science!" This quest, triggered through interactions with various NPCs in The Zone, involves activating a second measuring device atop a silo.
Initiating "For Science!":
The quest begins at the Central Elevator in the Chemical Plant. Near this location, players will overhear a radio conversation between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose. Mongoose requests Skif's assistance. Locate Mongoose on the first floor of the building (easily accessible by vaulting a railing), and he'll explain the need to activate a second device. Accepting his request starts the quest.
Reaching the Silo's Summit:
Ascend the building's stairs. Eliminate any rodent encounters. Climb out a broken window and use the external ladder and walkways to reach the silos. Be prepared for electro anomalies; equip appropriate gear. Activate the measuring device atop the silo. This will attract Bloodsuckers.
Confronting Mongoose:
Return to Mongoose. He'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences (the Bloodsuckers). Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept his reward. Either choice has no significant impact on the game's progression. Choosing the non-hostile option rewards players with the Malachite Pass and coupons, granting access to the STC Malachite facility (unless already accessible via main missions). The Malachite pass can also be looted from Mongoose's corpse if he is killed. The Malachite pass is your reward for completing the quest.
