Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating Season Two of the hit Netflix show with a major content update! Get ready for new characters, a fresh map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive rewards await those who watch the new episodes.
Netflix's surprising holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed – a battle royale game inspired by the Korean drama – was free to all players, subscribers and non-subscribers alike. This new content drop aims to further engage players and entice non-subscribers with rewards tied to watching the show.
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the "Mingle" mini-game from Squid Game Season Two will launch. Three new playable characters – Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos – will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have special in-game unlock events on January 3rd and 9th, respectively. Viewers of Squid Game Season Two can earn in-game Cash and Wild Tokens by watching episodes; watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January update schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: New Mingle map launches alongside Geum-Ja. Her "Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event" runs until January 9th, requiring players to complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives with his "Thanos’ Red Light Challenge" recruitment event. Eliminate players using knives to unlock this character. This event runs until January 14th.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final character addition in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed represents a significant step for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model, coupled with rewards for Netflix subscribers who watch the show, cleverly intertwines the game and the show, potentially boosting viewership and solidifying the game's success.
