Smite 2's open beta is now live and free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant content update from Titan Forge Games.
A year after its initial reveal, Smite 2, built with Unreal Engine 5, delivers a visually enhanced and mechanically refined MOBA experience compared to its predecessor. The core gameplay remains familiar: 5v5 battles featuring gods from various mythologies, but with improvements such as a revamped item shop offering broader item choices regardless of god type.
This open beta introduces Aladdin, a brand-new god designed specifically for Smite 2, boasting unique abilities including wall-running and a three-wish revival mechanic. His ultimate involves trapping enemies in a 1v1 duel using his magic lamp.
Key additions in the Smite 2 open beta include:
- New Gods: Aladdin (a Smite 2 exclusive), Geb, Mulan, Agni, and Ullr.
- Returning Game Mode: The popular 3v3 Joust mode.
- New Map: An Arthurian-themed map.
- Map Updates: Improvements to the Conquest map.
- Game Mode Alpha: An alpha version of the Assault game mode.
- God Aspects: Optional enhancements for select gods.
The developer highlights significant improvements over the original Smite and expresses gratitude for player feedback received during the closed alpha. Ambitious new content is promised for 2025. While currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns, Titan Forge Games remains open to a potential release on the Switch 2. Smite fans can download and play the open beta now.
