No Snooze? You Lose! SF6 Tournament “Sleep Fighter” Requires You to RestA unique Street Fighter 6 tournament in Japan, dubbed "Sleep Fighter," prioritizes sleep as a key competitive element. This Capcom-backed event, sponsored by SS Pharmaceuticals to promote their sleep aid Drewell, introduces a novel scoring system.

Sleep is Key in this SF6 Tournament

The Sleep Fighter tournament is a team-based competition. Three-person teams battle in best-of-three matches, accumulating points for wins and "Sleep Points" based on sleep duration.

The crucial twist? In the week leading up to the August 31st event, each team member must log at least six hours of sleep nightly. Teams failing to reach a combined 126 hours will face a five-point penalty for each hour short. The team with the most total sleep time also gains the privilege of choosing match conditions.

This innovative tournament, according to the official website, is the first esports event to penalize insufficient sleep, highlighting the importance of rest for peak performance. SS Pharmaceuticals' campaign, "Let's Do the Challenge, Let's Sleep First," aims to raise sleep awareness in Japan.

No Snooze? You Lose! SF6 Tournament “Sleep Fighter” Requires You to RestThe Sleep Fighter tournament takes place at Ryogoku KFC Hall Tokyo, with limited in-person attendance (100 people, lottery-based). Live streaming will be available on YouTube and Twitch for international viewers; broadcast details will be announced on the official website and Twitter (X) account.
