According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy's Star Wars project, which he has been developing since 2022, is gaining momentum with Gosling potentially starring in the film. The script, crafted by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, remains tightly under wraps. What we do know is that the movie will be a standalone story, separate from the iconic Skywalker Saga, and set in an undisclosed era of the Star Wars universe.
The involvement of Ryan Gosling seems to be accelerating the project. Originally, Levy was scheduled to direct a boy band movie with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. However, if Gosling officially signs on, the Star Wars film could leapfrog that project and become Levy's next venture, with production slated to start in the fall.
