Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Still Unconfirmed, but NetEase Exploring Possibilities

While Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, player anticipation for substantial content additions is high. Recent speculation surrounding a potential PvE boss fight fueled rumors of an imminent PvE mode. However, NetEase recently clarified that a full-fledged PvE mode isn't currently in the works.

At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we spoke with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu about the possibility of a PvE mode. Wu stated that while there are no immediate plans, NetEase's development team is actively experimenting with new gameplay modes. The team is committed to introducing any new mode deemed sufficiently engaging and fun.

Following this statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo inquired about my personal preference for a PvE mode. After expressing my interest, Wu elaborated, acknowledging that a significant portion of the player base desires a PvE experience. He emphasized that a dedicated hardcore PvE mode would significantly differ from the game's current structure. The team is therefore exploring various approaches, including potentially "lighter" PvE options, to determine the best fit for the game.

Currently, concrete plans for a PvE mode remain unconfirmed. Wu's comments suggest NetEase is exploring less substantial PvE options, such as limited-time events. Further details remain undisclosed.

Marvel Rivals continues to receive updates every six weeks, introducing new characters. The Human Torch and The Thing are the next heroes slated for release on February 21st. Separately, we also discussed potential Nintendo Switch 2 support and addressed the topic of whether the developers were intentionally misleading dataminers with fabricated hero "leaks" in the game's code. (Further details on these topics can be found in separate articles.)
