Pokemon Shatters World Record with Epic 24-Hour Card Opening Marathon
The Pokémon Company International has achieved a remarkable feat, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest Pokémon TCG card unboxing livestream. On November 26th, 2024, a 24-hour marathon unboxing event celebrated the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
This record-breaking livestream, hosted on Pokémon's official Twitch channel, featured popular online personalities including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. The team opened over 1,500 booster packs and various other Pokémon products, resulting in an estimated 20,000+ cards, according to the official press release.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement about the achievement, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we're thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The amassed collection of cards will be organized and donated to various charities before the holidays, including Barnardo's in the UK. Furthermore, the Pokémon Company promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks.
Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks
Released on November 8th, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.
Fans can also discover iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. The expansion also features Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas in serene ocean settings. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting new options for TCG players.
The Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
