Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and even weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location makes it easy to miss. This guide explains how to locate and utilize this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine in each act grants the +10% Lightning Resistance bonus. The shrine's icon is inconspicuous on the world map, often leading players to overlook it.
Due to PoE 2's procedurally generated maps, the shrine's exact location within the Spires of Deshar varies. However, it's always present on this map. Thorough exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Upon interaction, be prepared for combat; metallic automatons, initially stationary, will activate and attack. This interaction triggers all automatons on the map.
A helpful strategy involves utilizing the checkpoint near the shrine's location. If you reach the exit checkpoint before finding the shrine, fast travel back to avoid navigating the entire, heavily guarded map.
Activating the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon shrine contact.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Why My Lightning Resistance Isn't Showing Correctly
Many players find it confusing that even after activating the shrine, their resistance values might appear negative.
This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each completed act (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, after completing Act 1, activating the shrine in Act 2 results in a net zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the -10% debuff from Act 2 combines with the previous debuff, resulting in a -30% Lightning Resistance after activating the shrine.
To verify the buffs are active, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance value indicates that you haven't missed the encounter.
