Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are teaming up for a big-screen adaptation of the hit video game, Helldivers 2. The exciting news was revealed at CES 2025 by PlayStation Productions head, Asad Qizilbash. While specifics remain under wraps, Qizilbash confirmed the project is underway, promising fans spectacular space battles on the silver screen.
Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Studios, is a critically acclaimed shooter drawing inspiration from Starship Troopers. Its phenomenal success is undeniable, having achieved the distinction of being PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title, boasting 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. The recent Illuminate update, reintroducing enemies from the original Helldivers, further fueled its popularity.
Adding to the excitement, a film adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn is also in the works, a collaborative effort between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures – the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted movie. Qizilbash offered an initial glimpse into the Horizon Zero Dawn project, stating, "We're in the early stages of development for the Horizon Zero Dawn film, but we can assure audiences that this world and its characters will receive their first cinematic treatment."
