Yukiko's Castle serves as the first significant dungeon in Persona 4 Golden. Despite its relatively short length (seven floors), it provides a crucial learning experience, introducing players to the game's combat mechanics.
While the initial floors present minimal difficulty, later levels introduce the Magical Magus, a formidable random encounter. This guide details its weaknesses and effective strategies for defeating it.

The Magical Magus possesses potent skills capable of inflicting substantial damage on unprepared players. Its attacks primarily focus on fire-based damage, making fire-resistant accessories (found in golden chests within Yukiko's Castle) invaluable. These accessories also prove beneficial during the final boss battle.
When the Magical Magus begins charging magic, guard on your next turn. It frequently utilizes Agilao, a powerful tier-two spell that can easily eliminate unprepared party members. While Hysterical Slap inflicts considerable physical damage (a double hit), Agilao poses the more significant threat. Strategically, it's advisable for Chie and Yosuke to focus on guarding, minimizing their risk of being defeated, while the protagonist, who has access to light skills early in the game, should take the offensive.
Early-Game Persona with a Light Skill in Persona 4 Golden
Archangel is the optimal early-game Persona with a light skill, possessing Hama innately. It also learns Media at level 12, a highly useful skill for the final boss encounter. Archangel is a level 11 Persona, easily fused using:
- Slime (Level 2)
- Forneus (Level 6)
In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills function as instant-kill moves. Hama, exploiting an enemy's weakness, guarantees an almost certain instant kill, making even the dungeon's toughest enemy easily defeated. Archangel's high level makes it a suitable target for farming experience, provided you have sufficient SP restorative items or are willing to enter the boss fight with reduced SP.
