Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Welcomes Four Retro Classics
Battletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo has unveiled four SNES titles from the early 90s, offering a diverse range of gameplay styles: beat 'em up action, high-speed racing, challenging puzzles, and competitive dodgeball.
First up, the iconic crossover: Battletoads/Double Dragon. This action-packed title unites the brawling Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers in a quest to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters: Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally released on NES in June 1993, and later ported to SNES in December 1993, this marks a long-awaited re-release for Battletoads/Double Dragon.
Next, dive into the fast-paced action of Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West). This dodgeball game features Kunio-kun from the River City series, challenging players to dominate the court against international rivals. Compete in diverse arenas, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches, each with unique challenges.
Initially launched for the Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. Similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, players strategically clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points. Three modes are available: 1P Mode (solo high score challenge), VS Mode (head-to-head competition), and 100 Stage Mode (increasingly difficult puzzles). Clear lines horizontally and utilize descending blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Initially released in arcades in 1992, then ported to Super Famicom in 1993, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle has seen re-releases on various platforms, including Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
Finally, experience the thrill of Big Run, a racing game set across the diverse landscapes of Africa. Race against the clock and opponents through nine challenging stages, managing resources and making strategic choices to overcome obstacles.
