Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking a variety of reactions, including from Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's new look.
In a humorous video posted to TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," showcasing Movie Sonic's transformation from his initial, widely criticized live-action design to the much more favorably received version unveiled later.

IGN provided the exclusive first look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018. The initial design received mixed feedback, with fans particularly vocal about Sonic's teeth, physique, small eyes, and human-like fingers.
Following significant backlash, director Jeff Fowler decided to overhaul the controversial design, committing to a more authentic portrayal of the beloved character. The revamped design was much better received by fans and critics alike.
Although the response to Shrek's new look isn't as divisive as Sonic's debut, Sonic's playful response has certainly entertained his fanbase.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one fan commented, while another expressed disbelief, saying, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth Shrek movie was originally announced in 2016 but remained in limbo until Chris Meledandri, CEO of animation studio Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023. Alongside the revival of Shrek 5, there are plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has shifted Shrek 5's release date to December 23, 2026, while moving the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, into its previously scheduled slot.
