Player First Games announced the impending closure of MultiVersus, its Warner Bros. platform fighter. Season 5, launching February 4th, 2025, will be the game's last, with online services ending May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. This information was revealed in a blog post on the studio's website.
The game, released May 28th, 2024, will remain playable offline after the online servers shut down. Players will retain access to all earned and purchased content through local and training modes. The MultiVersus team expressed gratitude to players and supporters in a statement.

Real-money transactions have ceased, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used until the May 30th deadline. The game will be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store concurrently.
MultiVersus' closure follows reports of its underperformance for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a significant $100 million writedown, contributing to a larger $300 million total writedown in the company's games sector. This financial setback, alongside other factors, led to the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad, as reported by Variety.
Despite the shutdown, Season 5 will include new content, notably the addition of Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar rewards) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass) as playable characters. This final season aims to provide a fitting conclusion for the game.
