The success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to soar, with the game reaching an impressive milestone of 2 million copies sold in less than two weeks. This news was confirmed by developer Warhorse Studios via a celebratory tweet, echoing their earlier announcement of hitting 1 million sales just a day after its launch. This achievement underscores the remarkable reception of the medieval Europe action role-playing game sequel, which debuted on February 4 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Last week, Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, highlighted the game's strong performance on Steam, where it achieved a peak of over 250,000 concurrent players. To put this into perspective, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance peaked at 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago. It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely even higher, considering its simultaneous launch on consoles, though exact numbers from Sony and Microsoft remain undisclosed.
Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, praised the initial success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in terms of both player and critic reception and overall performance. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors commended the dedication of Warhorse Studios and their publisher, Deep Silver, stating, “This reflects the dedication and hard work of our development studio, Warhorse Studios, and our publisher, Deep Silver.” He expressed confidence in the game's future revenue potential, emphasizing its quality, immersion, and appeal. Wingefors also mentioned a robust roadmap for the next 12 months, which includes updates and new content to keep the community engaged.
Wingefors added, “We are immensely proud of the teams involved in the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has significantly outperformed our expectations so far.” The game's post-launch roadmap promises three expansions in 2025. Starting in spring, players can look forward to free updates featuring a Barbers feature for additional customization, Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. Summer will bring the first paid content, Brushes with Death, where protagonist Henry assists an artist with a mysterious past. In autumn, the Legacy of the Forge expansion will delve into Henry's adoptive father Martin's history. Finally, the winter release, Mysteria Ecclesia, will send Henry on a secretive mission within the Sedlec Monastery.
