Upgrading your weapons in Avowed is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature Common (Level I) weapons and enemies, but the difficulty quickly escalates to Level II, demanding Fine (Level II) gear. Here's how to acquire and upgrade to Tier II/Fine weapons and armor.
Upgrading to Fine (II) Quality:
Gear in Avowed has a Quality level indicated by a descriptor, color, and Roman numeral (I, II, etc.). Common gear is green (I), while Fine gear is blue (II). Each Quality level has three sub-levels (+1 to +3).
To upgrade from Common (I) to Fine (II), you must utilize workbenches found at Party Camps. Each sub-level (+1 to +3) requires specific materials. After reaching +3, you can upgrade to Fine (II) using Adra, a rare crystal obtained through quests, merchant purchases, or dismantling Unique gear.
Finding and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor:
While upgrading is an option, it's resource-intensive. Fine (II) gear can be found early on in Dawnshore, though rarely. Level II enemies, especially Bounties, may also drop Fine (II) equipment. However, using Common gear against Level II enemies is highly disadvantageous, so carry ample health potions.
Paradis, accessible after a key early-game boss fight, offers Fine (II) gear from merchants. Two sisters operate adjacent stalls near the Bounty Board: Merlylin sells magical items (grimoires, wands), while her blacksmith sister sells standard weapons and armor (as pictured above).
