Exciting news for fans of Split Fiction—the hit co-op action adventure is being adapted into a film, according to Variety. The publication reports that a package deal is being crafted in response to a flurry of offers for the movie rights from several top Hollywood studios.
Story Kitchen, a media company renowned for bringing games and other non-traditional properties to the big and small screens, is currently assembling the project's writers, director, and cast. This is the same team that successfully handled the upcoming film adaptation of Hazelight Studios’ previous game, It Takes Two. Story Kitchen, formerly known as dj2 Entertainment, has also been behind successful adaptations such as the Sonic the Hedgehog films and Netflix's Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Although details are scarce at this stage, the anticipation is palpable.
Adding to the excitement, Split Fiction has already proven to be a commercial success, having sold over two million copies in its first week on sale. IGN's review hailed the game as an unmissable co-op adventure that remains fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration.
In other news, Hazelight director Josef Fares recently confirmed that the studio is already working on its next game, keeping fans eagerly awaiting what's next from this innovative developer.
