GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

The excitement surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) continues to build, with hints that the game may eventually make its way to PC. Although no official announcement has been made, statements from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick and the historical release patterns of Rockstar Games suggest that a PC version could be on the horizon. Dive deeper into what's known about GTA 6's future and its ongoing development.

GTA 6 on PC: Not Confirmed, But Teased

GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

While GTA 6 has not been officially confirmed for PC, the possibility has been teased. In a conversation with IGN on February 10, 2025, Strauss Zelnick hinted at the release strategy for their upcoming titles. He mentioned that Civilization 7 would launch on both consoles and PC, but other games, including those from Rockstar, often follow a staggered release model.

Zelnick's comments reflect historical patterns: GTA 5 launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally on PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, with a PC release in November 2019. Although not confirmed, these patterns suggest that GTA 6 could follow suit, eventually making its way to PC, despite fans' hopes for a simultaneous launch across all platforms.

Take-Two's Confidence in GTA 6's Multiplatform Success

Zelnick also discussed the growing significance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can account for up to 40% of total sales. He remains optimistic about GTA 6's performance across all platforms, even amid reports of declining console sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

He believes that major titles like GTA 6 can drive console sales, stating, "When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles." Zelnick anticipates an uptick in console sales in 2025 due to a robust release schedule from various publishers, including Take-Two. He views the increasing market share of PC gaming as a key trend to watch.

GTA 6 is slated for release in Fall 2025, though an exact date has not been announced. For the latest updates on GTA 6, be sure to visit our dedicated Grand Theft Auto 6 page.

During the Take-Two Interactive Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick shared their interest in expanding to the Switch 2 console. He highlighted their long-standing relationship with Nintendo and noted a shift in the audience the Switch can reach, saying, "the Switch device can support any audience."

With Civilization 7 already announced for the Switch, Zelnick expressed a positive outlook: "While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch." This indicates that more titles from Take-Two and Rockstar might be coming to Nintendo's next console.
