Following Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this issue throws us back to a classic era. The story unfolds after 1984's Secret Wars, shortly after Peter Parker's return from Battleworld and his initial struggles with the alien symbiote. He'll need every bit of his newfound power to defend his city against the monstrous Godzilla.

Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 is written by Joe Kelly (soon to relaunch The Amazing Spider-Man) and illustrated by Nick Bradshaw (with cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land).

"The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped across the table to claim it," Kelly told IGN. "This book lets us go wild with two iconic characters, capturing the chaotic energy of that era. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity and vibe, while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his, shall we say, unique black suit) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter with an earth-shattering roar!"

This isn't the first superhero/Godzilla clash; DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel in the works) featured the MonsterVerse versions. Marvel's series, however, focuses on Toho's classic Godzilla.

This follows the announcement of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology benefiting wildfire relief.
