Fortnite reverses its controversial decision about one of the skins

The iconic Master Chief, the face of the Halo franchise (even behind the helmet!), is a highly sought-after skin in Fortnite. His return to the item shop after a two-year hiatus was met with much fanfare, but a controversy quickly emerged.

Initially, a special Matte Black style was offered exclusively to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The abrupt announcement of its removal therefore caused significant backlash.

Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit, believing the change violated certain terms and conditions. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style will now be available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X.

This reversal seems to be the most prudent decision, especially given the holiday season and the generally celebratory atmosphere of Christmas. A negative event like this would certainly have dampened the festive spirit.
