Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is developing The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality of The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This article delves into the upcoming title and the director's vision.
A Focused, High-Quality Experience
In an interview with GamesRadar, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the game's ambition. While acknowledging the studio's size and the project's debut status, he emphasized the team's commitment to AAA quality, citing The Witcher 3 as their benchmark.
The team, composed of veterans who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, aims for a tightly-crafted experience. Tomaszkiewicz stated that while the game's scope is smaller than a typical AAA title, the quality will be equally robust. They are targeting a 30-40 hour main campaign. He argued that playtime isn't the sole measure of AAA quality, citing examples like Call of Duty.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a peasant granted vampiric powers, who embarks on a quest to save his sister. The game promises a rich narrative within a hostile, mystical world.
Currently, there's no official release date, but the game is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A gameplay reveal is expected in Summer 2025.
