Beloved Square Enix RPG Graces Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed tactical RPG from Square Enix, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a short absence. The game's temporary delisting, lasting several days, has ended, allowing players to once again purchase and download the title.

Square Enix's Triangle Strategy, a celebrated return to classic tactical RPG gameplay, draws comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic combat, focusing on unit placement and maximizing damage, has resonated with players.

The reason for the delisting remains unconfirmed. However, speculation points to Square Enix's recent acquisition of the publishing rights from Nintendo. This follows a similar, albeit longer, delisting of Octopath Traveler last year. Unlike Octopath Traveler's several-week absence, Triangle Strategy's return was swift, taking only four days.

This event highlights the ongoing, positive relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This partnership is evident in previous releases, including the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the original release of Dragon Quest XI on the Switch. While Square Enix has expanded its releases to other platforms, the company continues its tradition of releasing console exclusives, as seen with the PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The reappearance of Triangle Strategy on the Switch eShop is welcome news for fans of both companies.
