Atelier Resleriana: Global EOS Announced for Forgotten Alchemy Game

Another mobile game has met its end. Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator has announced its End of Service (EOS). Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have shared the unfortunate news that their RPG will soon be shutting down, but this closure only affects the global version. Launched globally in January 2024, the game's life was short-lived, hinting at underwhelming performance. We'll explore the factors contributing to this EOS in greater detail later.

It's worth noting that the Japanese version of the game is doing well and has no plans to close anytime soon. Launched in September 2023, it's preparing to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025, which adds an ironic twist to the story. Why is that? Let's delve into it.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

The EOS date for the global version of Atelier Resleriana is set for March 28th, 2025, the very same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary. While Japanese players will be exploring Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1). The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but any Lodestar Gems you have can still be used until the end. Koei Tecmo has promised to roll out new content and events leading up to the shutdown.

Adding to the irony, the global version had just celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th. So, to the global players, it's a bittersweet "happy anniversary, now pack your bags."

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The developers have stated that after assessing the situation, they found it impossible to continue delivering the game at a satisfactory level for players, leading to the decision to shut down. Indeed, the game struggled to make an impact. Just a couple of months after its launch, players voiced their dissatisfaction with the gacha system. Despite the appeal of the main characters, the gameplay and monetization fell short, and the power creep was too significant.

These factors undoubtedly contributed to the announcement of the EOS for Atelier Resleriana's global version. If you wish to bid farewell to the game, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
